CrossFit
CrossFit is both my hobby and my career. It began as a way for me to get fit and slowly took over my life! CrossFit made such a difference in my life, both physically and mentally, that I wanted to share that with others. I do CrossFit workouts myself 4-5 times a week at my gym, Petranek Fitness.

Martial Arts
I have been doing martial arts since 2000. I began in a traditional stick fighting art, called Shintaido. I quickly took to the art and enjoyed the learning process, but since the class was only offered once a week, I began to look to other arts to feed my growing obsession. I studied Wushu, Tai Chi and Wing Chun.

Eventually I moved on and discovered combat arts – Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu and Muay Thai – and that is what I continue to study currently. Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu is a grappling art. I prefer to train in “no-gi” jiu-jitsu, which is also sometimes referred to as submission wrestling, because we do not wear the traditional gi. Muay Thai, or Thai Boxing, is a striking art. It is like kickboxing, but also involves the use of knees and elbows.

Scrapbooking & Making Greeting Cards
A lot of people laugh because with all the time I spend training CrossFit and martial arts, they forget I still like girly things! I love to create little pieces of artwork by scrapbooking and making greeting cards. I am slowly working on my scrapbook and have a lot of work to go. I prefer to make cards because I can share them with other people and brighten their day.

Yoga
I started training in Yoga once a week last year and really enjoy it! I think it’s good for me to SLOW DOWN sometimes. I really enjoy the school that I train at, Shakti’s Elements, in Santa Monica.

Other Interests
Reading (mostly non-fiction), anime, manga, watching television (mostly non-fiction and “reality” shows), watching MMA fights, playing with my cats, going to the gun range, indoor rock climbing, playing video games, text messaging entirely too much.

Oh, and Hello Kitty. Especially Choco Cat – he’s the coolest.
