A transplant from the Mid-West to Los Angeles — I grew up in Michigan, but have considered Los Angeles home since 1997. I’m a down to earth girl. While I am a definite type-A personality, I also like to be frivolous and spontaneous when it comes to the things I enjoy.

I have had a life long interest in film and television, and for a long time this was my main career pursuit. But I also developed a great interest in fitness and martial arts over the years. Specifically my interest has been in Mixed Martial Arts. I have found various ways to combine my interests by producing martial arts DVDs and working on film projects about professional fighters.

I used to work as a music editor — some of the more well known projects I worked on included Mariah Carey’s “Glitter” and the NBC sit-com, “Scrubs.” I won the Golden Reel for Best Music Editing for an episode of Scrubs in February of 2008.

My job as a music editor was a lot of fun, and definitely unique. It also allowed me to take the summer off when TV production goes on hiatus. This schedule let me to take on projects as a freelance video editor, videographer, and producer. I shot most of and edited all of Bas Rutten’s Big DVD’s of Combat, edited and co-produced the Team Quest Strength & Conditioning DVD, and worked as a videographer and editor on a documentary project that followed Rulon Gardner through his preparation to fight Yoshida.

In 2007, I “retired” from show business to work full-time as the Program Director at CrossFit Los Angeles in Santa Monica, CA. I am a certified CrossFit instructor and Olympic Lifting Coach, as well as being certified by the National Strength and Conditioning Association as a Certified Strength and Conditioning Coach. I love helping people reach their fitness goals and feel better about themselves.

For a while, I also combined my passions in another way, writing a monthly column for the CrossFit Journal on Martial Arts — CrossFit Journal

Martial Arts have long been a hobby of mine — I started in 2000 in an art called Shintaido. It involved fighting with six foot long staffs. Eventually I would study Wushu, Wing Chun, Tai Chi, Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu and Muay Thai kickboxing. The latter two are the closest to my heart.  Currently I have moved on to a new sport — fencing!  While sometimes I still miss the direct contact of Muay Thai and BJJ, I love the artistry and precision of fencing.  I study with a former two-time member of the Romanian Olympic Team at Avant Garde in West Los Angeles.

My latest business project is the CFLA Kids program.  I founded our kids program in the spring of 2010 and am excited to grow it into a full-fledged school.  Currently we instruct children ages 3-12 and I am starting a teen program in the spring of 2011.

In the end, what unifies it all for me is, if you don’t understand why it’s awesome to push yourself to the limit, both physically and mentally, then you won’t get me.

Aside from that, I’ve got two cats and I like to shoot things.
