10:00am - CrossFit, All Levels
Nothing quite like starting the day with running up and down Franklin Hill! I’m the one in the photo in third place, working on keeping Wes and Shirley in my sights. The run on Franklin Hill is a mere 225m, but oh boy, does it start feeling longer and longer…
6x Franklin Hill Repeats
- 3-5 minute rest interval in between
1. 1:10
2. 1:10
3. 1:10
4. 1:12
5. 1:08 (should have been 1:09 or 1:10, Andy stood too close)
6. 1:07
I was definitely slower today than I was when we did these last month - lack of training over break combined with an eating free for all were the culprits, no doubt. I also need to “go for it” more on these and not pick a pace where I can feel safe in my head about doing six. I need to go for it like I’m doing a single run.
7:00pm - Fencing Lesson
Back to fencing after a couple weeks of being away. I really missed it and was glad to be back at working on a skill and learning new things. I have some adjustments I need to make to my stance from how I was used to standing with my old coach. I feel like even though I didn’t get it right the whole time tonight that I gained a lot more awareness and can start making some lasting change now.
At one point in my lesson, as my coach was trying to explain exactly how to strike my opponent with my sabre, he said, “It’s like…” and mind you he has a rather thick Romanian accent, and is making a tiny little gesticulation with his fingertips, “…it’s like…you have to ENJOY cutting them a little more.”
Ha! That was a perfect cue. Totally got it!
